Like Torque app but for iOS

I need to start working on my own car now that warranty is done. I did some research and it looks like mobile apps with the help of a wireless ODBII device like ELM327 have come a long way in diagnostics for our cars. Looks like the Torque app is a good one if using an Android OS. I'm looking for a comparable app but for iOS devices (Apple). Previous threads have often turned into pissing contest between Droid VS. iPhone. I have a iPhone 5 and don't plan to switch just for an app so lets not start.

I ordered the WiFi version of the Elm327 for iOS and I think the this app looks good. It will do custom PID as well as PIDs from Torque app. Has anyone tried this:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/engi...591557194?mt=8

For $5 it can be a good gamble to try out and it has gotten good reviews. They could have picked a better name for it

If you have any experience or even options of this app please let me know. Or if you have another app you can recommend. This apps seems to a bit more them BMWhat app. Thanks for feedback

Jeez, they spent some time in the design department.

Looking to get a ELM327 unit soon. Are you an 07? I wonder how these work with K-Line, or if they at all work any differently.

Interested in this, let us know if this reads tranny temps for our cars, also torque app only reads intake air temps at MAF, not charge pipe. If it does I would purchase.

Do you need a wireless obdii reader in order to use the app?

My guess is yes, but just thought I would double check.

Yes. ELM237 is a common one people get. The iPhone uses WiFi version and Androids use Bluetooth version. You can find it on Amazon and Ebay, but make sure it is not coming from China or it can take a few weeks to arrive.

I've used the Torque app for years with a $16 ELM327 adapter and it works great. But it is not capable of reading BMW specific fault codes.

Only had a few minutes to play with it last night. Connecting the Engine Link app to the ELM237 was easy. The iPhone detected WiFi OBDII right away, selected it, and press connect on app. A quick scan found Code P0303, selecting it gives the explanation of the code. However when selecting "Clear Trouble Codes" if asks if I'm sure I want to clear it. Select OK... Code did not clear. SES MIL light still on.

Gauges from PIDs work. Temperature readings seem to work, MAF rate, Injection timing and others seem to work although the fuel gauge is not.

I'll play with it more later.

PhantomMaxx,
There is a log file under Engine Link's iTunes File Sharing Folder and it logs the raw data between the app and your adapter. Could you please run clear code and then copy the obddata.log and send to support@ksolution.org? iTunes File Sharing instructions can be found at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4094
Thanks a lot!

Personnaly I've used almost all the different OBD apps and only 2 stands out to me ... Dashcommand and iVini BMWhat

I was skeptical about paying 50$ (- 25$ credit I had in Itunes since christmas) for an apps to was promising so much but no review, not much online. I took the plunge and pay the 50$ for the applications and must say ... well worth it !

This applications is almost like an INPA for iphone. All module diagnostic, dtc and you can even do coding with it (tried it and it works flawlessly ! So much I do coding with my ipad and an ELM327 device now because the apps is script based so you just click on what you want, send the command and you're coded !!!

I'm in no was affiliated with the developper but this is the best thing I ever bought for my iphone.

It's available for IOS (iphone, ipad) and Android. Android gets more options because you can do USB-OBD coding for all vehicle, IOS version (wifi) is limited to car 03/2007+. Monthly, almost weekly update, great support from developper (based in germany).

I got one if the elm adapters. Won't work with the JB4 installed. So I have no use for it now. DashCommand couldn't figure out the obd2 protocol. Adapter would connect to my phone fine just wouldn't read what it needed to because of the jb4.

To use it you would have to go to map 0, code what you want, then go back to the map you drive on.

Yes but I wanted it for real time readings. Not for coding.

New release.

The new version of EngineLink App added support for Bluetooth Low Energy adapter. It does auto configure, auto connect.
It also added function to save and load your layout which allows sharing your cool interface easily.

For clearing code, Make sure ignition key is on and engine is off. Other wise, it could cause no response for clear code command.

Works fine for me too. But does not measure boost correctly, maxes out. How about you?

How does Dash command works with this ODB ?
Torque and HP accurate ?

My friend opasha pointed me to this thread and he said iPhone/IOS choices are small but the one you recommended and this one , seem to be the ones that work.

Is this the same ELM327 u have ?
